Ties that Bind

Ties that Bind is designed to assist 10 producers from Asia and Europe with potential European-Asian co-production projects. It is also open to in addition also to other European professionals interested in working with Asia. Five are selected to be an active part of the group.

TIES THAT BIND targets 10 Asian & European producers with projects and five other European professionals interested in working with Asia (sales agents, financiers, distributors, festival programmers, co-production market representatives) or producers without project. 

The participants work with industry professionals from both continents. The sessions focus on script development, co-production between Asia and Europe, financing in the two regions, marketing and distribution, and the legal aspects of co-production. They will meet leading Asian and European sales agents, funders and potential co-producers during the FOCUS ASIA Genre Project Market in Udine and the Southeast Asian Film Financing (SAFF) Forum in Singapore.

  • feature-length fiction film (for theatrical release) with strong potential to find co-producers and/or attract Asian private financiers. We are open to any genre and type of project (from arthouse to commercial projects)
  • preferably a minimum of 20% financing should be in place
  • applicants must be the lead producer of the submitted project
  • producer must have completed at least one film released in the last 3 years (theatrically, TV, DVD, VOD)
  • 1st draft of the script must be available in English for the first workshop by April 1, 2019.
