Project development / Co-production

ACE continuous training programme for advanced producers

(ACE 25 + ACE Network)

ACE is a long-term project-based programme which aims to nurture a generation of European producers who have the skills to collaborate among countries, discover new talents together and deliver high quality films to the widest possible audience.
This is a one-year project-based training and networking programme targeted at experienced or very experienced feature film producers. At the end of this one-year session the participants become members of a constructed network with its specific meeting points and institutions. The activity is based on the sharing of the experience and knowledge of the members of previous years with the experience and knowledge of the new participants.

Owing to their level the new participants bring as much to the alumni as they get from them. The new participants are selected with a project of a feature film in development with a high potential for an international co-production. The majority are from the EU except for a small group of non-EU producers. The projects selected at an early level of development are used as material for tuition.

The producers are attributed a script consultant and a financial mentor to coach them. They meet key potential partners during the sessions in order to package the project. After the first year most of the projects are not yet ready for shooting. Provided that they pay their annual subscription, the participants benefit from advice and consulting from the ACE team and consultants, as well as from the Network itself as the development of a fiction feature film can take 2 to 6 years or more in some cases. The activity is based on three residential workshops in three EU countries, an “Annual Meeting” gathering the whole network in one place, roundtables and seminars in several EU countries open to local participants to get their feedback and disseminate results, and a series of networking events held in the main marketplaces of the year. These events are complemented by an active planned follow up of each participant by email and Skype. The consultants are active professionals: world sales agents, distributors, bankers, commissioners from funds and broadcasters, in permanent contact with the international audience and market.

This is a course for experienced European independent film producers (feature films for theatrical release only).
Learning outcomesImproved development, international co-production, business, entrepreneurial and management skills.
